Bangladesh, India sign 129.5 km oil pipeline deal

Bangladesh and India signed an agreement here on Monday on their proposed 129.5 km oil pipeline aimed at pumping Indian oil to Bangladesh with a capacity of 1 million tonnes per annum. The deal was part of the six memorandum of understandings (MoUs) which Dhaka and New Delhi signed during a meeting between their Foreign Secretaries at State Guesthouse Padma in the capital, Xinhua news agency reported. Seminar on Thalassemia at CoU

Bondhu, a free blood donating organization of Comilla University (CoU), in collaboration with UGC hosted a seminar titled “Rising Public Awareness and Promoting Thalassemia Screeming in Bangladesh" on Thursday at CoU. NM Rabul Awal chowdhury chaired the seminar while CoU VC Prof Dr Emran Kabir Chowdhury was the chief guest and Dr M Mizanur Rahman, Director General of BARD was the special guest. I had the opportunity to visit my ancestral villages now in Bangladesh recently. When I landed at Dhaka airport after catching the morning flight on 15thMarch we were already late by over two hours. Bangladesh Biman had not alerted us officially anyway as the flight had been put off reportedly owing to fog. Again surprisingly when I returned on 20th the evening flight was again delayed by 30 minutes due to the reported belated arrival of a flight from Singapore. So punctuality appeared to be not their top priority.
