BD-US MoU to bolster education sector cooperation

Bangladesh and the United States today agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bolster cooperation in education sector.

The agreement was reached at a meeting between Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and US Ambassador Marcia Stephens Bloom Berticat at the education ministry in the city, said an bd-us-flag1bd-usofficial release here.

During the meeting, the minister apprised the US envoy about the development in education sector in Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The envoy lauded the extensive development Bangladesh achieved in education sector and assured all cooperation of the US to sustain the progress in the sector.

Bernicat particularly appreciated success in enrolment of children in schools, gender equality in primary and secondary levels and modernization of technical education in Bangladesh.

The minister also discussed with the US envoy about cooperation in research, training of teachers and technical education.

Senior officials concerned were present in the meeting.
