 Axiata Group Berhad, the parent company of Robi Axiata Ltd Tuesday announced the appointment of its President and Group CEO, Dato‟ Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim, as Deputy Chairman of the GSM Association (GSMA), the organisation representing more than 800 of the world's mobile operators, as well as more than 230 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem. The appointment represents the first time that a Malaysian has held the prestigious post and the first time an ASEAN country has been represented as well. Indian telecom giant Bharti Airtel is close to exit from Sri Lankan mobile market by selling its business to Etisalat.
