BD seeks UK’s GSP facility untill 2030

Bangladesh has sought an extension of the UK’s GSP facility to Bangladeshi products until 2030 to boost trade and also its greater support for a faster post-pandemic SDGs recovery.

ECNEC okays Tk 1,454cr DPDC project

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved a Taka 1,454.05 crore project to ensure standard and uninterrupted power supply for the clients of Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) alongside creating infrastructures for giving additional 1.15 lakh power connections. The approval came from a meeting of the ECNEC with its chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, reports BSS. Govt not to fail in revenue collection, says Kamal

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said that the National Board of Revenue (NBR) would not fail in revenue collection if the other economic parameters remain well mentioning that the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has impacted the country’s economy like the other countries. “The whole of the world is being affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic and we’re also affected as well. We’re working to overcome the shock and maintain the revenue collection. We won’t fail in revenue collection if other economic parameters remain well,” he said. Corona vaccine approved for use in Russia

A locally developed vaccine for Covid-19 has been given regulatory approval in Russia after less than two months of testing on humans. Russian President Vladimir Putin said the vaccine had passed all the required checks, adding that his daughter had already been given it, reports BBC. Officials have said they plan to start mass vaccination in October. Experts have raised concerns about the speed of Russia’s work, suggesting that researchers might be cutting corners.
