At least six people were killed, and several hundred injured in Dhaka, Chittagong, and Rangpur on Tuesday as police and Chhatra League members clashed with quota reform activists for the second consecutive day.
Three of the deceased were identified as Abu Sayeed (22), an English Department student at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR); Wasim Akram, a Social Science student at Chittagong College; and Faruq, a pedestrian. The identities of the other three victims could not be confirmed at the time of reporting.

All secondary and higher secondary educational institutions, as well as polytechnic institutes, across the country have been ordered to suspend their classes indefinitely.
This announcement was made by the Ministry of Education in a statement released on Tuesday evening (July 16). Abul Khair, the ministry's public relations officer, confirmed the directive.
The statement noted that considering the safety of school and college-going students, all educational institutions under the purview of the Ministry of Education, including secondary and higher secondary schools and polytechnic institutes, will remain closed until further notice.
