China to set Confucius Institute at IU

The Confucius Institute of China to set a branch of it at Islamic University (IU) under the Islamic Institute of Education and Research (IIER) of IU. A view exchange program held at the conference room of IU administration building between IIER of IU and Confucius Institute of China on this regard on Tuesday at 10 A.M.

IIER of IU organized the program where its Director Prof Dr. Maher Ali presided over the program.

iu-pic-03IU VC Prof. Dr Harun-ur-Rashid Askari was present as Chief Guest while Dr. Zhou Mingdong, director of Confucius Institute of Dhaka University and Mr Ahmed Mugnee, former Interpreter of Confucius Institute of Dhaka University was present as a Guest of Honour.

English Dept. Assistant Prof. Ismet Zerin Khan hosted over the program while Faculty of Applied Science and Technology Dean Prof. Dr. Shamsul Alam and the Chairmen of Law and Muslim Jurisprudence Prof. Dr. M Zahurul Islam Also spoke on the Program.

IU VC and Chief Guest of the program Prof. Dr Harun-ur-Rashid Askari said, ‘Our First priority is to raise the university into an International Standard. So within the shortest possible time we are going to set the Institute at IU to exchange the Educational cooperation between IU and China. We believe that it will be the beginning of a new era for our Teachers and Students and they will be benefited in their research enormously.’

He also thanked and express sincere gratitude on behalf of the University to the People of China and the delegation of the Confucius Institute present on the program.

IU VC welcomed the Guests of Honour with Crest on behalf of IIER. They also provide a variety of traditional Chinese things to the IU VC.

Later a Question and Answer Session was held and a documentary was shown about the activity of the Confucius Institute.

The Confucius Institute is running its activity into Dhaka University and North South University in Bangladesh while they also launched its activity among 157 other countries.
