Evaluate students’ co-curricular activities: Nahid

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today called for evaluating extracurricular activities in educational institution alongside the national curriculum ones of the students in getting government grants.

“The government has also taken steps to evaluate the extracurricular activities including sports nahidand cultural issues of students before sanctioning the government’s grants for the particular educational institutions,” he told an annual sports and cultural competition of IPH School and College at Mohakhali here, reports BSS.

The minister observed that most of the students were being deprived of getting proper exercise due to the scarcity of playground in the capital.

He called upon all concerned to use the existing playground in the educational institutions properly.

“Even it is necessary you have to share the playgrounds of neigbouring educational institutions so that most of the students can use those subsequently,” Nahid added.

Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam, Prof Dr Shafique Ahmed Siddique, Managing Committee Chairman AKM Jasimuddin and Principal Karim Khan, among others, spoke on the occasion.

Later, the minister distributed prizes among the winners of the competitions.
