The Urban and Regional Planning (URP) department is going to host a two-day long international conference titled ‘Bangladesh Planning and Research-2016’ at Jahangirnagar University on February 5 here on campus.
Convener and Chairman of URP dept. Prof. Shafiq-Ur-Rahman disclosed the event at a press 
conference at the JU Journalist’s Association (Juja) office around 3.30 pm.
A total of 200 including 30 foreigner delegates will attend the conference while 84 research papers will be presented about on urban planning, urbanization development, poverty alleviation, local government systems, sustaining natural systems, weather and climate changes, ICT planning,’ added the convener.
JU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Farzana Islam will inaugurate as expected the programme while Prof. Nazrul Islam, former chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) is expected as chief guest, Zmilur Reza Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of Asia Pacific University, JU Pro-VC Prof. Abul Hossain and Treasurer Prof. Abul Khair are expected as special guest.
At the second day, Prof Shamsul Alam, member of general economics division of the planning commission and key planner of the development strategy will present as expected chief guest while JU VC Prof. Farzana Islam, Pro-VC, Treasurer are expected as special guest.
Prof. M Shafiq-Ur-Rahman will chair closing ceremony.
