The European Parliament (EU parliament) wants the Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) should organise and oversee the next general elections in a fully transparent manner. It called on all groups and individuals in Bangladesh to exercise tolerance and restraint, especially in the lead-up to, during, and after the elections.
EU passed three separate resolutions on Thursday, urging calm in the run-up to elections in Bangladesh and also expressing concern about the situation of migrant workers in Qatar and calling for fair justice in Bolivia.

Duty free and quota free access (DFQF) and relaxation of Rules of Origin might be harmful for the LDCs as these will weaken their position to oppose TISA (Trade in Service Agreement) and TICFA (Trade and Investment Cooperation Framework Agreement), said the rights activists.
They urged the government to emphasise free movement of labour in the upcoming WTO ministerial meet to be held in Bali, Indonesia on December 3-6.

In northern Bangladesh, a 17km-long industrial conveyor belt carries in limestone from a mine on the other side of the border with India. It feeds a cement-making factory, which ships its output down a river to the capital, Dhaka. There the stone—mined in India and processed in the Bangladeshi hinterland—becomes, block by block, part of one of the fastest-growing cities in the world.

Global entrepreneurship week (GEW) is being celebrated in the city with a flying start focusing on the “importance of an entrepreneurial community” to inspire the next wave of innovative entrepreneurs.
The kickoff began at the News Cred office in Dhaka with an opening talk by MK Aaref of EdwardMKennedyCenter in the city and Toby Glucksman, Deputy Political and Economic Counselor and Economic Chief of US Embassy, Dhaka.
This was followed by a fireside chat moderated by Samad Miraly of Olympic with Md. Sabur Khan, President of DCCI and Pial Islam of PI Consulting. The event ended with a panel session on Water Sanitation App Fest hackathon talk by Mirva Tuulia Moilanen, Communications Specialist, The World Bank.
