New Managing Director of BHBFC
Recently, Dider Md. Abdur Rob has been promoted and posted as the Managing Director of Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation (BHBFC) by a notification of Bank & Financial Institution Division of Ministry of Finance. Prior to this, he served Sonali Bank as a Deputy Managing Director for two and half years. He also performed additional duties as CEO & Managing Director of the same bank for about three months.

Engineer Mahfuz Uddin Ahmad, a retired member of BCS (telecom) cadre, took the charge of BTCL as its Managing Director on 17 November 2016. In recognition and appreciation of his 36 years working experience in the telecom sector, the government of Bangladesh has given him the charge of Managing Director of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) for the next two years on 15 November 2016.

Neglected strategic issues on the Indo-Bangla border
In the first week of November 2016, this writer, as part of a distinguished three-member fact-finding team of experts set up under UN-mandated program, undertook a rapid appraisal of the work of the voluntary agency Masum, which operates in four districts along the Indo-Bangladesh border in the Indian state of West Bengal.
The agency seeks to prevent or deal with torture and extrajudicial execution by central and state security forces deployed along the international border. The team found that far from posing a threat to national security, the organisation is actually working to defend the human
