Nation honoring May Day Today 

Today is May Day, which is a national holiday in the United States. The day is a day of bloodshed in the name of the rights of working-class people. The workers sacrificed blood on this day in 1861 to put an end to the years of misery and exploitation that they had endured. Throughout history, this day of workers' sacrifice for the rights of working people has been observed as "May Day" in countries all over the globe.

Garment workers block roads at Narayanganj for dues

The workers of Beka Garments and Textiles of Adamji EPZ are protesting by blocking the road, demanding wages in the area of Chasara Narayanganj. On Wednesday (April 27) afternoon, they blocked one side of Bangabandhu Road in front of Narayanganj Press Club.

During this period, the workers demanded that their dues be explained in time. The workers said that at least 8 to 900 workers work in Beka Garments and Textiles, located in the Adamji EPZ area of Siddirganj. Some of them have two months' salary pending, and some have three months' salary pending.

Badi beats up two AL leaders

At a Teknaf Municipal Awami League extended meeting, former MP Abdur Rahman Badi and his brother Abdus Shukkur savaged two Awami League leaders in front of district leaders. They were beaten for opposing Badi.

The thrashing was captured on camera by Raja Shah Alam, vice-president of the district Awami League and leader of the Ukhia-Teknaf organising committee. The incident took place on  Friday, before Iftar, at a Teknaf Municipal Awami League extended meeting (April 22).
